Ai Weiwei is a chinese contemporary artist and known for his large-scale works that look at size, scale and manipulations of everyday items.
One of his more famous pieces was “Forever” where he assembled 1,000 bicycles into an incredible sculpture. This piece – along with many of his others – looks at mass production whilst referring to something constant, unchanged and predictable with in our human environment; the collective impact and power shown through the repetition creates a sence of rhythm, making his work so successful.
Weiwei’s art has been shown in cities all around the world and loved for its unique twists on objects that once seemed familiar.
