The Search Engine Saving The Planet…

Ecosia is the latest rival to search engines such as Google and Bing. Not only does it allow users to under go regular searches in a familiar format – providing the same services as any other browser – but it has a unique twist. It plants trees.

80% of the profits from the ad revenue is put towards planting trees around the world. Not only is this helping the planet, but also its people. There have been over 7 million trees planted already, with the number increasing every second. They chose to invest in trees as “they’re nature’s high-impact home remedy” with benefits such as biodiversity, helping climate change and ensuring water security.

The search engine itself is super easy to use and it even allows users to see their own impact on Ecosia’s cause with their tree counter icon in the top corner of their page.

Each of the tree planting projects that they finance have a unique approach and are helping to reforest the world, with projects in Peru, Madagascar, Indionisia and Burkina Faso. The company allow public access their progress in order to prove their success through their monthly business reports and blog updates.
